„East Sister turned my head, always sounding both edgy and sweet at the same time. The two singers on guitar and synths write songs that are often smooth yet always unconventional, and surprise you with experimental twists and twirls. Satisfying sounds are also coming from a bassist with a faible for old machines which he also shares with their drummer who is incredibly busy in the most tasteful way. Which means that even if you don’t understand anything about music it’s great to just watch them operate mysterious gadgets and throw around kitchen towels and little chains with bells. How can they sound so nonchalantly held together, jumping effortlessly from song to ecstatic improv-explosions while underneath it’s always tightly grooving, as if they’re secretly communicating or following an underlying code? I hope I’ll never find out.“

"East Sister m'a retourné la tête d'une manière à la fois troublante et apaisante. Les deux chanteuses à la guitare et aux synthétiseurs écrivent des chansons souvent douces, toujours inconventionnelles: une approche expérimentale partagée par un bassiste affectionnant les vieilles machines et un batteur toujours incroyablement occupé de la manière la plus délicate. Même si vous ne comprenez rien à la musique, c'est hypnotisant de simplement les regarder utiliser leurs gadgets mystérieux tout en jetant des serviettes de cuisine et des petites chaînes à clochettes. Comment peuvent-ils sonner si nonchalamment tenus ensemble, naviguant sans effort d'une chanson à des explosions d'improvisations écstatiques, alors qu'en dessous, ils groovent toujours étroitement, comme s'ils communiquaient secrètement ou suivaient un code sous-jacent ? J'espère ne jamais le découvrir.“

"East Sister hat mir den Kopf verdreht, immer klingen sie irgendwie eckig und angenehm zugleich. Die beiden Sängerinnen an Gitarre und Synthesizer schreiben raffinierte Lieder, die immer unkonventionell daherkommen und mit experimentellen Wendungen überraschen. Satte und befriedigende Klänge kommen auch von einem Bassisten mit einem Faible für alte Maschinen. Diese Liebe teilt er mit dem Drummer, der auf sehr geschmackvolle Art und Weise unglaublich beschäftigt ist. Das heisst, selbst wenn man nichts über Musik versteht, macht es Spass, ihnen zuzusehen, wie sie mysteriöse Geräte bedienen und mit Küchentüchern und kleinen Ketten mit Glocken hantieren. Wie können sie so nonchalant zusammenklingen, mühelos von Lied zu ekstatischen Impro-Explosionen springen, während es darunter immer gut groovt, als ob sie heimlich kommunizieren oder einem unterliegenden Code folgen würden?
